Hero Balloon Flights, formerly Balloon Adventures Emirates, operates licensed commercial balloon flights in the Margham desert east of Dubai. Low dunes, open land and generally stable morning conditions make this area well suited to ballooning.
How the flight works
Hotel pickup is before sunrise. The team prepares and inflates the balloon in the dark, ready to lift off as the first light reaches the dunes. Depending on conditions, the balloon can climb towards 1,200 metres, with views of the Hajar Mountains to the east and Dubai's skyline to the west.
During the flight, a falcon is released from the basket for a carefully managed demonstration. After landing, breakfast is served in the operator's desert oasis with juice, hot dishes, coffee and dates.
When to fly
- October-November usually combines clear views and moderate temperatures.
- December-February is cooler and can bring early-morning mist.
- March-May is warmer, with changing desert colours and vegetation.
Important information
- Minimum age is five years and minimum height is 120 cm.
- Maximum passenger weight is 100 kg.
- Flights may be postponed in strong wind or storms.
- Closed, comfortable shoes are recommended.
- The flight is not recommended during pregnancy or for serious heart conditions.
- The season ends on 31 May; summer flights do not operate because of the heat.
